Underwire nursing bras enjoy a great deal of popularity with large breasted nursing moms. While many smaller breasted (under DD) breastfeeding mothers can get away with a soft nursing bra with no underwire and be perfectly supported and comfortable, a lot of more generously endowed mothers find soft nursing bras just don’t give enough support. This can lead to discomfort or even compression of the breasts and the milk ducts.

Underwire maternity nursing bras do need to be fitted with as much, or possibly more care than the wire-less nursing bras. Compression or binding of the milk ducts from the underwire must be avoided. On the other hand with larger breasted nursing moms, compression of the milk ducts and the resulting plugged milk ducts can happen from the weight of poorly supported breasts as well, so it is a matter of choice. However, a well fitted nursing underwire can certainly avoid most of the problems and provide a great deal more comfort for larger breasted nursing mothers.

Many fashionable and downright sexy nursing bras come with a nursing underwire and often in the larger cup sizes because bigger breasted women want that extra support from the nursing underwire for comfort.

The plain white nursing bra your mother wore that looked so uncomfortable is not the only choice these days, in fact it’s hard to find because now the designers of nursing bras have put the accent on comfort, style and good support. Underwire nursing bras come in almost every style from the frilly, lacy and tantalizing, to the standard nursing bra and the sizes are expanded to fit even larger breasted women. Some nursing tanks even come with a built in underwire nursing bra. There is no reason that even the most generously endowed mother can’t be comfortable and look good with all the choices in styles and colors in underwire nursing bras.

Good breast support is important for the health of the nursing mother and just general comfort. For many well endowed mothers the underwired nursing bra provides all this with style.
